Martlet design is Cayman Islands’ leading custom furniture and cabinetmaking shop. Led by John Bird, an award-winning designer and builder, Martlet design's team of 10 makers produce a wide variety of bespoke pieces and installations made to exacting specifications for residential and commercial settings.

John started his career 30 years ago in his hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, with a focus on using reclaimed materials from demolished buildings. A few years later he attended Parnham College in Dorset, England, headed by legendary furniture builder, designer and educator John Makepeace. His two years at this furniture design training school exposed John to a wide range of styles and techniques. This helped him hone his skills with his own sense of style that infuses all of Martlet design’s work.
